I know, I know

Ok. Avery is now five-months-old and I haven't updated since she was four-months-old. I'm a bad mommy and a bad blogger.

I promise I will get some pictures up this weekend. I even downloaded them this past weekend but it has just been crazy busy. We had Avery's baptism last week and her sleeping was getting much worse. Turns out it was her acid reflux medicine that was causing her to wake all the time/not sleep. Did the doctor figure that out? No. I did. I even told him that she stopped sleeping when we started the meds but he never put it together. I never put it together that it was a side effect but I'M NOT A DOCTOR!

Anyway...she hasn't had a dose since Saturday and already her sleep has improved dramatically. She's gone from getting up 6-8 times a night to 2-3. And I'm sure it will just get better. She's got a lot of sleep to catch up on! Oh, and for the two people who actually still check my blog (Hi, Becky! Hi, Sarah!), Avery is sleeping on her tummy, too, which I think is helping.

Livi is doing great. She's been learning sign language at school and can basically do the whole alphabet and some other things (frog, dog, please stop!). It's pretty cool. She's really looking forward to Halloween - she's going to be Hannah Montana!

I better get going but just wanted to let people know that we're still here, just really busy. I also just joined Facebook and am busy playing around on there all the time. If you haven't joined yet, you should! It's so much fun to catch up with old friends.

4 Months Old!

So I'm a little late. Avery turned 4 months old last Monday. Here are some pics...

Oh, wait! What are those, you might ask?! Those are CHICKEN POX! My baby has chicken pox! It started Saturday morning. I called the nurse hotline because I thought they were bug bites or maybe an allergic reaction. Nope. MY FOUR-MONTH-OLD HAS CHICKEN POX!

I'm a little upset - can you tell?!

Anyway...I'm home with her today and Joe is taking the rest of the week off. She's miserable - it's been getting worse every day. She's learned how to scratch her head so now I'm trying to keep her from doing that (although it's kind of cute to watch...)

Anyway...here are some other pics from before the pox. Enjoy!

Livi cleaning my floors for me! (No, I do not use Windex on my floors. But Livi had been helping me clean the windows and then she started on the floors - I didn't have the heart to tell her to stop - she was so proud of herself. I cleaned the floors later... :) )

Trying her first food - sweet potatoes!

All done, Mommy!

Livi at the apple orchard with Daddy.

Happy baby! (There's a pic of Livi in this same hat at about the same age - I'm still looking for it to do a comparison. When I find it, I'll post them together.)

Ok. Baby is crying. Have a good week.

When it rains, it pours

Ok, so I of course haven't posted in a while. It's been very busy.
Why, might you ask, am I posting during the middle of a work day? Oh, because I'm home with a sick child. It started Friday when Avery projectile vomited all over me. Twice. So she was a little off all weekend. Then Livi woke up at 4:45 this morning - she had thrown up all over her "kiki." For those of you who know how much Livi loves her blanket, this was a major thing. So I was doing laundry at 5 a.m. I then crawled in bed with her. Avery woke up at some point and Joe had to bring her in so he could shower. Because he HAD TO LEAVE FOR VEGAS!
Yeah. So I have a sick child, a baby and I'm not feeling well myself - all alone! I don't know how I'll pull this off!
Anyway...enough complaining. I have a lot of pictures. Joe turned 30 on August 29th (yes, finally!) and I had a surprise party for him.
Enjoy the pics!
Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Make a wish!

Surprise!

Joe knows how to get the girls!

Three months old!

It's hard to believe, but Avery turned three months old Friday. Time sure does fly by. It flies by even faster when said 3-month-old is no longer screaming an hour a night! I sure am glad my first child wasn't colicky. It's hard enough being a first-time parent, let alone putting up with a fussy baby. At least this time I knew it wouldn't last forever.

The nightly screaming ritual actually stopped about three weeks ago. She still gets a little fussy at night, but it's nothing like it was. I'm sure some of it is her age and some of it is her acid reflux meds. They really do seem to be helping. We can tell if we've forgotten to give it to her. Pretty crazy.

All in all, things are pretty good. I went back to work on the 13th, so that's been a bit of an adjustment. And about two days before I went back, Avery decided it would be fun to start getting up a few times a night. I guess that's what I get for saying she was a good sleeper. Now she's up about 3 times a night and it's taking its toll. I'm tired. I do NOT function well without sleep. I'm sure it's just a phase or something, but MAN am I tired!

Avery rolled over a few times the day before she turned four weeks. But I had put her up on her arms a little, so I didn't really count it. But yesterday when Livi and I got home (Joe's Mom was watching her so Livi and I could have some special time together), she announced that Avery had rolled over all by herself! It would figure that we weren't around to witness it. I put her back on her belly and she actually seemed pretty happy there. Usually she fusses and cries after about a minute. She was on her belly a good 5-7 minutes before she started to get bored and fuss. No rolling over, though. Oh well.

She seems to have discovered that she's in control of her hands and it's pretty cute to watch her amazement. She's really starting to find her thumb and it's so cute. We had been pulling it out and putting a pacifier in, but it's obvious she's going to be a thumb sucker. Aww...I just looked over and she just woke up in her swing and is sucking her thumb! She's so LOUD when she sucks her thumb!

Anyway...that means I have about two more minutes before she starts fussing. These pictures are about 1-2 weeks old. Joe and Livi are camping right now and he has the camera, so I can't download any newer ones. I'll try to update again soon.

Splish, splash I was taking a bath!

Our little star! (She's currently OBSESSED with Hannah Montana!)

I look like a dork you guys!

Don't make me wear this stupid wig!

Day with the roomies

So, here's the big visit. Rochelle, Jen, Steph, Misty, their children and Steph's husband Mike came for a visit. Jen lives in Florida and was home visiting so we thought it would be a great opportunity to get together again.

Rochelle has three (!) girls - Ava, Harper and Delaney. Steph has little Jack and Nora. Misty has Keinin and Jen is pregnant with twin girls (!) and due in December. Olivia had a great time with her new best friends Ava and Harper. We girls had a nice time catching up while Mike played lifeguard and Mr. Mom. Thanks, Mike! (not that he'll ever read this...)

Anyway...it's late so I'll just put a few captions in. Enjoy!

Ahh...this is the life!

Hi over there! (Nora is three months older than Avery and Avery is bigger than her!)

Slow down, Livi!

Misty, Steph, Me (hey, let's throw Carrie in the middle so her chest looks even bigger!), Rochelle and Jen.

Ava, Harper and Olivia

Wow! Now that's a big clan! And we were missing our other roommate, Tracy and her new little guy, Sean! Can you tell that Mike was taking the picture? He's like 7 feet tall!

Mike playing lifeguard to all the kids.

I had an awesome time. It was so great to see everyone again and hope that we can try to do it more often. Hopefully Tracy can join us next time.

Love you guys!

Finally!

So...here they are - the pictures I promised you. I'll probably do two posts so I can add the ones of my college roommates and their children. I'm still trying to figure out how the pictures post. You sort of have to know the exact ones you want to use and then go backward. I guess if I posted more often, I wouldn't have this problem.

Yes-I know of the dangers a cat poses to a baby. I was right there, so please - no comments.

Me and Livi in the "Big Shopping Cart" at Smokey Hollow Campground.

Livi took this picture of me and Avery playing on the floor last week.

Getting a drink on a hot day.

Watching TV together. (Yes, our 2-month-old likes to watch TV. Again, no comments please!)
Joe and Avery taking a little snooze after a day of swimming at my sister's.

All dressed up at Joe's parent's house.

She's getting so big! (Taken 8/6)

Anyway...I'll post some more pictures from the day I got to spend with my roomies. Hope you like all the pics!
