One Month Old!

Ok. So I suck at this whole blog thing. Avery is now one month old and I've posted once. To the two of you out there who may actually check this thing, I'm sorry! Life with two is busy!

Things are going well. Joe is still home until next week and he's been a great help. He takes Avery early in the morning so I can get a little extra sleep, which is so nice.

Olivia is a GREAT big sister, as I knew she would be. She's very loving with Avery and wants her to go everywhere she goes.

Avery was at the doctor yesterday and weighs 10 lbs 9oz already! That means she's gaining about an ounce and half every day. "Normal" is about half to one ounce a day. So at least I know she's not starving! (Like the every hour and a half feedings didn't tell me that!)

Anyway, for those of you with only one child or those of you thinking of having another, there are a few things I've learned since having a second child:

  • The quickest way to get your pets to accept the first child is to have a second. Lexie has never really cared for Olivia even though Olivia is the most gentle, loving child to that cat. Seriously. Livi loves her so much and Lexie has always just run away from her. Now? Now Lexie lets Livi pet her, brush her, PICK HER UP! She's like a totally different cat to Livi since we brought Avery home.

  • There is no such thing as napping when the baby naps. In fact, there's no such thing as napping when you have a second. Well, not when the first one doesn't take naps anymore.

  • Minivans are a necessary evil. We bought another Rendezvous about six months ago because we loved our first and I wanted a newer one. Well, it's now for sale and we're looking at minivans. I've come to the realization that no one really WANTS to drive one, but when it's convenience vs. pride, you need to make the smarter choice. So...if you know of anyone looking for a really nice Rendezvous, send them my way!

We've been busy this past month. Avery has been to Milwaukee twice, the Madison Zoo, the Milwaukee Zoo, Devil's Lake State Park, Lancaster and Nekoosa. Tomorrow we are heading up to stay at Jellystone in Warrens and then heading to my parents to hopefully get out on the water. So...she's been a busy girl! Much busier than we were with Olivia. My butt put on a lot of miles in the rocker with Olivia! :)

I know you want to see some pictures, so here goes nothing. I'll try to post a little more frequently in the future.

Ok. I REALLY SUCK AT THIS! Until I figure this out, please bear with me. The pictures are not in order (almost reverse order, actually). This is not for REAL babies, Olivia!
Happy Father's Day, Daddy!
Tummy time!
Daddy and his girls.
Mommy and Avery.

On the Merrimac Ferry
Taking a snooze with Grandma Vergie
There are a lot of bugs at Grandma and Grandpa's!
Let me in, Mom!
I love my baby sister!

Being a new family is very tiring!
She likes to suck Livi's finger!
Our little princess!
Takin' a stroll at the Union.
Checking out the giraffes at the zoo.

Going home from the hospital!

Blurry, but cute sucking her thumb!

There are more than two; some of us are just quiet. :-) Great pics! I especially love the one with the "I love my baby sister" caption. Where'd you get that netting? Never seen that before!
